Exporting the Report to Microsoft Word - Save as rtf File

When you save the report as an rtf file (one with Rich Text Format), several formatting processes are applied to the text.

These include: Providing a header (the running head, as well as the page number), double spacing the entire document, inserting page breaks after the title page and the abstract page, converting abbreviations (ones you created using $beh notation) to their full text, converting <i> tags to italicise text, indenting quotations, indenting instrucitons to the participants, and so on.

After the file is saved it will open in your default word processor, such as Microsoft Word (most, if not all, word processors can read rtf files).

Warning: If you have already saved the report as an rtf file, and that file is open, then when you try to save it again with the same name (without shutting down the previous file), you will get a very long error message. Avoid this by always saving the file with a new name each time you save it.

Once you have exported your report draft to your word processor, you can add any final touches to it from there. Hopefully, LabWriteUp will not only improve the quality of your report but will have saved you a lot of time.
