Abbreviations

When writing a report, you often have to type out lengthy terms and phrases repeatedly. With the abbreviations function, you can create short forms of long words to save time.

To create a new abbreviation or to just see the list, select the abbreviations button near the bottom of the window. Here you can edit or add new abbreviations to the set. In the above example, the word ?mata is used as an abbreviation for mathematical ability. After you have built the report and have saved it as an rtf file, each occurrence of ?mata is automatically replaced with mathematical ability. You can create as many of these as you wish.

Tip: If you know the sorts of typos you regularly make (e.g., indidivual) then you can create an abbreviation for that word (e.g., ?ind), so that when you read your final report in your word processor all instances of ?ind are changed to individual.
